In Case You Missed It - News and Tidbits - March 15

Here are some news and tidbit items from last week in Southern Gospel (just a little late) -


  • Former Florida Boys tenor Terry Davis passed away. He suffered a heart attack while driving. Funeral services were held on Wednesday.
  • Grandmother of Shaye Smith (Chuck Wagon Gang) passed away on March 7. Amy Owens was 88 years old. Funeral services will be held March 17.
  • Carolyn Kirksey, wife of former Singing News editor-in-chief Jerry Kirksey, is currently undergoing in-patient physical therapy in Blowing Rock, North Carolina to regain mobility. She has been diagnosed with kidney disease and liver disease. 
  • Ed O’Neal and the Dixie Melody Boys have reached a new recording agreement with Great American Gospel. The Great American Gospel Television program has now formed the new recording label. The quartet will be in the studio recording in April.
