"And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God." - Ephesians 3:18, 19
Sometimes it's overwhelming to think about the love of Christ, the love He has for each of us. It's this love that caused Him to die on the cross, suffering a gruesome and unimaginable death. It's the same love that shows me mercy and grace every day. It's the love that knew how much I would fail Him and chose me anyway.
I know I would be nothing without His love. One song about His love that has really stuck out to me recently is "If Not for the Love of
Christ" by the Kingsmen. In Him and His love, I am complete. There's "no finer treasure or greater prize." His love is sufficient for me. I'll never know a love on this earth that even compares to the love that Christ has for me. I wouldn't want to think about life not knowing that kind of love.
As overwhelming as it is to think about this love, it's just as
depressing to think about what life would be like without it. The third verse talks about this, the mercy, peace and hope that we would
never know. Even through the most difficult of circumstances, I'm reminded that He has never left or forsaken me. He loves me just the same, and through His love I can have a peace that passes all understanding. Going through life and all of its storms without this
love and peace would be so hopeless and depressing. I'm so thankful that I don't know that kind of life.
I can't imagine people who go through their lives daily without relying on the love of Christ. Praise God that I know this kind of love, and "I can't imagine living my life if not for the love of Christ."
