Stephen Hill Passes Away

Singer/ songwriter Stephen Hill passed away today. He was in North Carolina when he suffered a heart attack and died unexpectedly. Hill played and sang for more than 30 years. He was well known for his soloist appearances on the Gaither Homecoming Series. He also taught voice and guitar lessons at the Stamps Baxter School of Music. He was 55 years old. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Several artists have expressed their condolences on Twitter:

Sheri Easter - My heart is breaking for Stephen Hill's family. Please pray for them. Stephen was an incredible, gentle man whose presence filled a room.

Karen Peck Gooch - Our hearts are broken at the passing of Stephen Hill. Precious friend. Heaven's getting sweeter:)

Wes Hampton - Just talked to Jeff Easter who confirmed that Stephen Hill passed away tonight from a heart attack. I'm devastated. What a precious man.

Gordon Mote - I am so sad to hear about the passing of Stephen Hill. He was an incredible singer, and an even better person. We will miss him.

Tim Duncan - A very sad day. Stephen Hill was a great friend and a wonderful wonderful person

    Such a shock to all of us at the Ben Speer’s Stamps Baxter School of Music where he was a faculty member and mentor to so many. His honesty, talent, wit and generous heart made him a favorite. It’s hard for me to believe that he’s gone. I’m blessed to have known him. My prayers go out to his family.

      my cousins name is linda barnhill, and i just got to know stephen on gaithers videos, i wish i could of met such a wonderful, man as he. his music i play all the time, it lifts me up to god, and he has that blues touch, just makes you want to shout and dance for jesus.

    This is so so sad. Im a loyal Gaither music fan in Zimbabwe Africa and it breaks my heart every time i find out we've lost one of heavens ambassadors. May his soul rest in peace.

    STEPHEN HILL A MAN THAT WOULD REALLY LIFT YOU UP WHEN HE SANG FOR OUR SAVIOR. HE WILL BE MISSED BY MANY MANY PEOPLE.GOD MUST BE GETTING THE BEST SINGERS ON EARTH FOR THAT GLORIOUS DAY WHEN WE ALL THAT ARE SAVED GO HOME WHAT A WONDERFUL DAY THAT WILL BE.PLEASE EVERYONE BE IN PRAYER FOR STEPHEN FAMILY.WE ALL LOVED YOU.     I just recently started listening to the Gaithers music and learned of Stephen Hill. His music and obvious love of people praising God in song was captivating. I looked him up to find more of his music and learned he had passed away! I was heartbroken that he was gone! God bless and take care of his dear family and friends. We will meet in Heaven one day!
