LeFevre Quartet Concert Recap - July 2018

The LeFevre Quartet made a stop in Arkansas a few weeks ago also in Pine Bluff. It was good to hear all eight songs from their newest project Ascending live. The group consists of Mike LeFevre, Jordan LeFevre, Jeremy Peace and Keith Plott. I rarely get to see this quartet in full concerts by themselves and at a multi-group event, so it was really good to hear about an hour and a half of great quartet singing!

Here are a few highlights of the night -

  • "I'm Gonna Be Movin'"
  • "Sun's Gonna Come Up" - I love this new song from their latest project. It's also their first single.
  • "Silver and Gold" - This is such a fun song featuring Keith.
  • "A Rugged Old Cross"
  • "Oh What a Savior"
  • "I'll See You at the House" - Mike talked about his mom before this song. She passed away last year. It was such a touching tribute, and it's such a beautiful song to remember loved ones who have gone on.
  • "Let the Church Arise"
  • "I Have It All"
  • "Only Jesus" - This was one of my favorites from their new project, so I was really glad to hear it live. Jeremy did a great job on this song.
  • "Revival" - They ended the night with this song. Mike mentioned that Jordan hadn't been feeling well, but he still stepped up to sing this one and did a great job.
Make sure and check out when these guys are going to be in your area!

Ascending - The LeFevre Quartet - CD Review

The LeFevre Quartet release Ascending in April. This is the second project with the current lineup of Mike LeFevre, Jordan LeFevre, Jeremy Peace and Keith Plott. This project might be a bit shorter in terms of number of songs, but not short on the quality of music coming from this group.

The project starts with "I Have It All," which is just a great quartet number. The song really shows the blend this lineup of the quartet has.

"Revival" goes toward the more progressive sound of Southern Gospel. I can't wait to see this one live! The song was actually recorded previously by Contemporary Christian artist Third Day; however, with their version it sounds like it was meant for the Southern Gospel flair.

Jordan is featured on "A Rugged Old Cross," which is definitely a highlight of the project. Jordan is probably one of the most underrated lead singers in the industry.

"I'll See You at the House" will take you back. It's a song that will immediately cause a person to come to mind who has gone on to Heaven. Mike does an incredible job of communicating this emotionally-charged song.

"Sailing Away" will also take you back to previous decades of Southern Gospel. It sounds like it would fit in the classic gospel quartet. It lets Jeremy Peace step out and show off his high tenor.

"Sun's Gonna Come Up in the Morning" is the first single from the project, and I can see why. The song was written by Lee Black and Scotty Inman. This is such a catchy song that you'll find yourself humming and singing over and over.

In a project of mostly uptempo songs, "Only Jesus" stands out as a highlight. It's a beautiful reminder that only Jesus can truly change our lives - restore joy, turn our lives around, fix our brokenness.

We get to hear from bass singer Keith Plott on "Silver and Gold." It's a great uptempo, toe-tapper to end the project on. This is another one that I can't wait to hear and see live.

Song to Turn Up - "I Have It All"
Song to Put on Repeat - "Sun's Gonna Come Up in the Morning"
Song That Will Take You to Church - "Only Jesus"

Song List -
1. "I Have It All"
2. "Revival"
3. "A Rugged Old Cross"
4. "I'll See You at the House"
5. "Sailing Away"
6. "Sun's Gonna Come Up"
7. "Only Jesus"
8. "Silver and Gold"

Keith Plott Joins the LeFevre Quartet

The LeFevre Quartet announced Keith Plott as its new bass singer. Keith, his wife and their children live in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

The full release is below -

Gainesville, GA — The LeFevre Quartet is pleased to announce Keith Plott as their new bass vocalist.

Mike LeFevre states, “Keith is certainly no stranger to this music and it is a real joy to have Keith join this ministry. Looking back over the history of gospel music, you can count on two hands, groups with ‘stand out’ bass singers that could sing low notes but also sing a beautiful lead line. I can honestly say, Keith Plott is one I would include in the best of the best. Not only is he an incredible singer, but he also has a heart for God, which is the perfect combination.”

February 9 will be Keith’s “official” debut. Take a moment and welcome him to The LeFevre Quartet family.

Six Artists on Day Two of Silver Dollar City's Southern Gospel Picnic

Today I was reminded of why I love this festival so much. The worship experienced during this time is just a sweet preview of Heaven. It was a day full of hymns and sing alongs where the groups led in worship.

We saw six different artists today, so here are the highlights -

Melody Boys Quartet

I was able to attend the Melody Boys farewell concert in 2012 when they came off the road. The quartet does select dates each year, and Silver Dollar City was one of their stops this year!

Gerald Williams has still got it! His voice is as great and strong as ever. They sang several songs that showcased him like "Pray" and "This Ole House."

They sang some great older classics like "Peace in the Valley," "Let the Lower Lights Be Burning" and ended the set with "Just a Little Talk with Jesus."

Spoken 4 Quartet

It was great to see these guys again! They had Tommy Fairchild playing the keys for them while at the City.

If you haven't hear bass Cecil Stringer, you're missing out. He's one of the lowest on the road today. He was featured on "Life's Evening Sun." The thing I love about seeing this group is not only hearing them sing, but it doesn't matter where the concert is, they aren't ashamed of speaking truth into the lives of the people in the audience.

Their set also featured a couple of hymn including "Because He Lives" and "Blessed Assurance." They are in the middle of recording a new project (a volume 2) of hymns and favorites. They ended the set with "Jesus Is Coming Soon."

Hyssongs

This was my first chance to see the Hyssongs live. Hymns really were the theme of the day because they did a medley at the end of the set that was incredible. It included "There's Something About that Name," "My Tribute" and "How Great Thou Art."

I loved hearing them play the trumpet and trombone live. They did a fantastic arrangement of "Majesty" and a fun arrangement of "When the Saints Go Marching In."

They also got the crowd singing along with "It Is Well" and "I'll Fly Away." Glad I finally got the chance to see this group live!

LeFevre Quartet

The LeFevre Quartet was actually a trio, but to put your mind at ease, they don't plan to stay that way. They started the set with their popular "Something," which has become favorite of mine that they sing.

Josh Townsend is playing piano for the group. He's such a great young talent!

During the middle of the set, Mike asked for requests from the audiences. People kept calling out titles. He joked that they wouldn't sing any of the songs, but it was good to hear the audience's favorite songs. One of those requests was "Come and See." Jordan was feeling sick  but did a great job on it! They sang a hymn medley with "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art." Of course, people wanted to hear Mike sing "When I Get Carried" and Jeremy sing "Oh What a Savior."

Joseph Habedank

Joseph opened the night in Echo Hollow. He started the night with "Welcome Home." He sang a few hymns from his Take Time to Be Holy project, "What a Day That Will Be" and "It Is Well." Loved getting to hear him sing "Beauty of the Blood," which he calls his testimony song.

He sang the Goodman classic "I Wouldn't Take Nothing for my Journey Now." He sang a few that he did with the Perrys, "He's So Good to Me" and ended his time with "If You Knew Him," which had the audience on its feet!

The Whisnants

The Whisnants ended the night down in the Hollow. Always love seeing this group! They got the crowd going with "I'm Gonna Go Out Singing" from their most recent project. They also sang "A Grave Mistake" from that same CD.

Austin and Ethan were both featured during the night. They sang "I Lean on You Lord" with Jeff and "1+2+3" with Susan. Both boys sound great! Austin then sang Susan's part on "Not Afraid to Trust Him."

They sang several Whisnants classics, "Be Not Afraid," featuring Aaron and "New Day Dawning," which they ended the first half with and Joseph joined them on!

Susan sang "All Is Well" and "Worry Ends Where Faith Begins," one of my favorites! Thanks, Susan! She also sang "I Love You This Much." I think this was my first time to hear this song live, and it was probably the moment of the night!

They ended the night with "I Believe He's Coming Back," the Goodman classic. Joseph again came out and joined them. It was another great night in Echo Hollow!

Jon Epley Joins The LeFevre Quartet

The LeFevre Quartet welcomes Jon Epley as its new bass singer. Jon has sang with the Inspirations and most recently the Ball Brothers. He will replace Brandon Barry.

Here's a statement from Jon from the release -

Jon stated, “I am so excited to be joining The LeFevre Quartet. I have been a fan of Mike LeFevre for many years, and feel that joining the vocal lineup of Mike, Jordan and Jeremy can yield great things for the glory of the Lord. The guys and their families have welcomed my wife Tiffany and myself with open arms, and that means the world to us! Their heart for the Lord, ministry, and family is an inspiration. National Quartet Convention 2015 - Wednesday Night Recap

I was off and on tonight watching the webcast. Tomorrow night I hope to be able to watch all of it. I caught a set and a half before I went to church and then was able to catch the end of the Erwins' set through the finale.

I was able to see the Jim Brady Trio and part of Ernie Haase and Signature Sound before I went to church. The Jim Brady Trio is really sounding fantastic!  They had some issues with their mics, but that didn't stop them! They kept rolling with it. Melissa shared the story of her dad coming to Christ, and what an amazing testimony! Then she sang "Greatest of All Miracles," incredible moment!!

Someone who knows more about the history of NQC than I do, is Ernie Haase and Signature Sound the first artist to ever throw frisbees into the audience? They did this in Branson with the song "Happy People" but I didn't expect that during NQC! Definitely livened up the place! Dustin Doyle was then featured on "Redemption Draweth Nigh," which is when I was sad that I had to turn it off!

I tuned in back in time to catch the end of the Erwins with "I Choose to Be a Christian." Love this young group!

The Hoppers were another highlight of the night. I love that they are including the Hopper Brothers 2.0 so much. This lineup sounds great! It's great seeing Claude and Connie back on stage with the family. I love all the different combinations of voices that the Hoppers offer fans now.

Jason Crabb had a strong set that featured a couple of new songs. Really liked "If I Shout!" And I love that he pulled Kelly Bowling on stage with him to sing "Through the Fire." He and Gerald Wolfe co-hosted the night. They are funny together and play off each other well. It was funny how they kept plugging their own CDs and teasing about their favorite songs from the other one's album.

The Booth Brothers' set was also a highlight of the night. I love hearing Ronnie Booth on "Then I Met the Master." They paid tribute to Mosie Lister tonight. They ended their set with "Still Feelin' Fine" where they pulled up both Steve Ladd and Jim Brady to help them close!

I love how they are doing the finales each night. The entire Heritage of Gold set was amazing!! Heritage of Gold included Gold City, the LeFevre Quartet, Steve Ladd, Jay Parrack and Vocal Event and Wilburn and Wilburn. The band even included Gold City alum Jeff Easter on bass. They sang favorites like "When I Get Carried Away," "One Scarred Hand" and "Not Giving Up." Tim Riley was there and featured on "Under Control," sounding great! They ended the night with "Midnight Cry," perfect end to the night!!

Highlights of the Night -
  • "Greatest of All Miracles" - Jim Brady Trio
  • "Truth Is Marching On" - Legacy Five (with Jim Brady)
  • "Jesus Saves" - LeFevre Quartet
  • "Something's Happening" - The Hoppers
  • "If I Shout" - Jason Crabb
  • "Then I Met the Master" - Booth Brothers
  • "Midnight Cry" - Heritage of Gold

Silver Dollar City Southern Gospel Picnic - August 29

Rain is an inevitable part of Silver Dollar City's Southern Gospel Picnic. And this year it happened during Triumphant Quartet's concert. About four songs in, there can a downpour. But more on that a little later. First, here are the highlights of the other shows we saw today.

LeFevre Quartet

  • "Come and See"
  • "I Love to Call His Name" - This has always been a favorite song of mine! They did this song with just the piano and voices.
  • This group has helped make two more contemporary songs popular in Southern Gospel. They sang both "Jesus Saves" and "Days of Elijah" during the set both by request. Loved them both!

The Browns

  • We saw the Browns during their patriotic set. They sang a few patriotic songs but my favorite was definitely "Because of the Brave."
  • The Browns' playing their violins is amazing!
  • "Peace on Earth"

New Road
  • They had a live band, so no tracks at all!
  • "With These Hands" - This is a new song written by one of their members. Outstanding!
  • This is a newer group so they sang a number of popular gospel songs including ""I'm Rich," "The Lighthouse" and "Meet Me at the Table."

Southern Raised

  • "Glorious Day" - They put their own spin on this song, loved it!
  • They talked about having been raised and trained more on classical music. They created an arrangement of "Four Seasons" with "Holy, Holy, Holy." Amazing!!

Triumphant Quartet

  • Honestly four songs into the night, the rain started. Triumphant capitalized on this and sang "I Wish It Would Rain." The rain started coming down even harder.
  • "Old White Flag" - Clayton stepped out into the rain with the audience to sing this one! He got soaked but put everything he had into it!
  • Thankfully the rain didn't last all night but unfortunately for them a lot of the audience left. But they are the ones who missed out!
  • "Saved by Grace" - This was the last song before the sky opened up. The crowd was on its feet, everyone loved it!!
  • "This Blood" -- I love this song!!!!
  • "He Is" - Great song to end the night on!!

Jeremy Peace Joins LeFevre Quartet

The LeFevre Quartet announced via Facebook yesterday that Jeremy Peace has joined them at tenor. Jeremy has been with the Kingsmen and most recently The Old Paths.

Here's the full release from the group's Facebook page -

Mike LeFevre of The LeFevre Quartet announces Jeremy Peace as new tenor. “We are thrilled to have Jeremy Peace serving in the tenor position with the LeFevre Quartet. Jeremy has an impressive history in Southern Gospel music. His sincere heart for ministry and powerful tenor voice make him a wonderful addition to The LeFevre Quartet.”

Jeremy stated, “It’s a privilege to now stand on stage with one of my heroes, Mike LeFevre, ministering in song and delivering the Word of God when the opportunity arises. My wife and I were immediately at peace with the decision to join the ministry of LeFevre Quartet. We realized this was the door the Lord had opened for us to walk through, enabling me to minister to a lost and hurting world. My passion has always been great quartet singing, and after singing with Mike and his quartet, I've quickly discovered they are a group full of talented, humble personalities with a drive to be the very best they can be to further the message and the music. I'm honored to be a part of such an amazing group!”

Thomas Nalley resigned the position, due to a medical condition. Since that time, Thomas has completely recovered, and is currently serving with the group in a non-singing capacity. Thomas commented, “While we don't always understand why things happen the way they do, I am convinced that His ways are perfect!"

Please join us in welcoming Jeremy to LQ and in praising God for Thomas' miracle!

Visit www.thelefevrequartet.com to find out when they will be in concert near you.

NQC Day 6 Highlights - National Quartet Convention Recap

The last night of the 2014 National Quartet Convention is over. The first convention in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee is in the books. I missed last night and some sections of the other nights, but overall I think this was one of the strongest nights of the convention.

Sometimes it can be easy to forget the first groups of the night by the end, but tonight was definitely an exception. Some of the strongest sets occurred early on. The night started with the Sneed Family, Gold City and the Whisnants. The Sneed Family continues to impress me more and more, and I love that they sang "Hallelujah Square!" Gold City turned in another strong set tonight with a repeat of "Power of the Cross" and bringing back "There Rose a Lamb." It was also neat to see them take the stage on "I Get Down" by Quarteto Gileade which was a highlighted showcase artist. The Whisnants started their set with "A Greater Yes," my favorite of their songs! I was also glad that they brought up Austin and Ethan to sing "On the Road to Emmaus" with Jeff.

And it was a great night for all quartets in general at the quartet convention. It's hard to single out anyone out but for me Old Paths, Triumphant Quartet and LeFevre Quartet also had really strong sets. I love that Triumphant had part of the choir from First Baptist Sevierville join them on stage for a couple of songs, "Oh Happy Day" and "We Will Remember" (And I think I spotted a few Triumphant family members in the choir!). The LeFevre Quartet was joined by the Booth Brothers on "Jesus Saves" which both groups have recorded.

The finale or bonus had several groups coming back to the stage for one of their most requested songs. The groups were the Mark Trammell Quartet, Collingsworth Family, Booth Brothers, Triumphant, Whisnants, Hoppers and Greater Vision. The night ended with them all on stage for "Bless the Lord," which is the song the Sunday night concert started with, a very fitting ending to a great night! :)

Here are highlighted songs and moments (in no particular order) -

  • "Love of God" - Hoppers
  • "I Bowed on My Knees" - Old Paths
  • "I Rest My Case at the Cross" - Perrys
  • "Arise My Love" - Soul'd Out Quartet
  • "Jesus Saves" - LeFevre Quartet with Booth Brothers
  • "There Rose a Lamb" - Gold City
  • "A Greater Yes" - Whisnants
  • "For All He's Done" - Greater Vision
  • "When the Trumpet Sounds" - Triumphant Quartet
  • "Homecoming Day" - Tribute Quartet

NQC Day 1 Highlights - National Quartet Convention

The first official night of the 2014 National Quartet Convention in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee is in the books. I was able to catch most of the webcast tonight.

The Perrys were the last group to go on and had the moment of the night. We all knew it would be an emotional return to the main stage for the Perrys with Tracy Stuffle present. The group got an overwhelming applause once they got to the stage. Then, Libbi sang "I Can Trust Him." Incredibly powerful and emotional moment from the audience and on stage!!! They sang "Three Men on a Mountain" to feature both Tracy and Jared. I loved seeing the pride in Tracy's face as Jared sang. They closed the night with "I Wish I Could Have Been There," perfect closing song! Andrew Goldman really impressed me with his lead vocals on that song!

Mark Trammell Quartet had a strong set, but it was the last song that really stood out. Mark took the time to mention that he was notified that the U.S. had launched airstrikes on Syria. They then sang "It's Almost Over," so timely and great moment!

A highlight early on in the night was the LeFevre Quartet singing "I Love to Call His Name." I've always been a big fan of this song. They mentioned that Rex Nelon had been the one to sing it with the LeFevres many years ago. Brandon Barry sang it and then Kelly Nelon Clark and Karen Peck Gooch joined the quartet on stage!

Another surprise stage visit was during Mark Bishop's set when he called his dad Kenneth Bishop and Archie Watkins to join him on "I Rely on Him." Kenneth stayed on stage with his son for one more song after that.

Brian Free and Assurance had a strong set to start the night off. They sang mostly new songs and ended the set with "Long As I Got King Jesus," always a crowd favorite. Several other groups had strong sets from start to finish - Karen Peck and New River, Legacy Five, Wilburn and Wilburn, Triumphant Quartet and the Talleys.

Here's my list of the top performances of the night (no particular order except first one) -

  • "I Can Trust Him" - The Perrys
  • "It's Almost Over" - Mark Trammell Quartet
  • "Finish Well" - Karen Peck and New River
  • "I Love to Call" - LeFevre Quartet
  • "Christ Is Still the King" - Legacy Five
  • "I Thank You" - Kingdom Heirs
  • "Somebody Died for Me" - Triumphant Quartet
  • "A Man Like Me" - Wilburn and Wilburn
  • "I Will Rise" - Tribute Quartet

What moments stood out to you??

Walking On Into Day Two - Silver Dollar City's Southern Gospel Picnic

Day 2 of Silver Dollar City’s Southern Gospel Picnic is now in the books. I caught seven different shows with six different artists including a surprise artist. Two of the artists, I got to see for the first time live!

LeFevre Quartet

My morning started with the LeFevre Quartet. I hadn’t seen the group with the current lineup of Mike LeFevre, Jordan LeFevre, Brandon Barry and Thomas Nalley. They had a really strong set with the highlight being “Rainbow of Love,” where Brandon and Thomas got to show off their vocals. I also love that they sang “Come and See,” probably my favorite song of the group’s. Brandon also was featured on “Lead Me All the Way.” This was a great fun song to see live!

Dunaways

Next, I went to see the Dunaways who I actually saw twice today. They repeated several in the two shows I saw, but since this was my first time seeing the group live, I certainly didn’t mind. I love that they sang “Didn’t I Walk on the Water” in both shows! I cannot get enough of that song! They also sang from their recent release “Church in the Kitchen,” another fun one to see live. Before they sang it, they led the congregation in “Rock of Ages.” There were several songs that were new to me that I really enjoyed hearing, “Again and Again” and “Reassure Me.”

I also caught two show of the Mark Trammell Quartet. They sang a good mix of older songs and songs from their newest release. They sang a few new ones that I didn’t get to hear yesterday like “When the King Comes to Claim His Throne” and “I’ll Take It to the Grave.” It seemed that audiences cannot get enough of “Your Walk Talks.” I think this must have been requested in every show! I also got to hear Randy Byrd sing “Side by Side,” funny moment! They also ended each show with “The King Is Coming.” I never get tired of hearing this song!!

Gordon Mote

Gordon Mote was another person I got to see for the first time. He had an incredible set! He started with “Get Up In Jesus’ Name” and then sang “When I Lift Up My Head.” He then sang “Faith Like That,” absolutely love that song and definitely the highlight for me!! He started playing “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” on the keyboard. He talked about what strong faith his parents had and how they raised him in a Christian home. He told a little bit of his testimony. I didn’t realize that both he and his brother had been born blind. His parents knew that God had a hand in their lives. He learned to play piano at age 3. His mother taught him the old hymns of the church, and he said those are the songs that ministered to him the most through the years. He also led the audience in “Through It All.” He also sang “Maplewood Methodist Church.” Great song! He was going to end on “Good Ole Gospel Ship,” but Duane Garren (who serves as emcee) requested that he sing one more. A man shouted out “Thank You Lord” and then another man shouted out “Mercy Walked In.” He said that he heard “Thank You Lord” first so started playing and asked that the audience join in. Then as a surprise he sang the chorus of “Mercy Walked In” to end the set.

In Echo Hollow, the Isaacs were scheduled to perform, but we got a special surprise! The Old Paths are on the Showboat Branson Belle today, but came out to sing a few for us! They sang “Ever Since That Wonderful Day,” “Oh What a Savior” and “I Passed Over Into Canaanland.” This group poured their hearts into those songs and the audience loved it!!! So glad I got to see them sing again!

Then the Isaacs took the stage, and they looked a little different than normal. Ben was not with them due to family obligations. Sonya said it was the first time he had missed in 15 years. Becky and Sonya’s husbands and Levi (Becky’s son) were with them helping out. It was different without Ben but definitely good to see and hear John Bowman and Jimmy Yeary on stage!

They started the night with “Walk On.” They sang several favorites of mine like “If That Don’t Make You Wanna Go,” “Get On Board” and “He Ain’t Never Done Me Nothing But Good.”

It was another scorcher outside, but that didn’t stop the Isaacs from putting everything they had into the hour and a half. Lily made the same comment Brian Free did the night before about it being a good time for the ice bucket challenge. Haha! It might be interesting to see how many times that comment is made over the week.

Lily read an excerpt from her book You Don’t Have to Cry Out Loud. She talked about her dad and regretted that she didn’t get to know her dad like she wanted to. She waited until it was too late. Then they sing “In the Living Years.”

John got to sing one of his songs “God’s Not Dead.” Levi and Jackobi (Becky’s daughter) also joined the whole family for “Walk Together Children.” This was one of Jackobi’s first appearances on stage. They did a great job! John sang the Bill Gaither bass part. Levi was featured on “It’s Good to Be Back Home Again.”

Jimmy sang the multi-award winning country song he wrote “I Drive Your Truck.” He told the story of how they wrote it. He and Sonya also sang “I’m Gonna Love You Through It” that they wrote.

They sang a few a cappella songs with Jimmy, Lily, Sonya and Becky like “The Lord’s Prayer.” They planned to end on “I’ll Fly Away,” but the audience requested them sing one more. They obliged and ended with an amazing a cappella version of “How Great Thou Art.” What a way to end the second day!

When Lyrics Speak - Jesus Saves

When most gospel fans hear about the song "Jesus Saves," they probably think of the familiar hymn -
"We have heard the joyful sound:
Jesus saves! Jesus saves!
Spread the tidings all around:
Jesus saves! Jesus saves!"
The LeFevre Quartet recorded a different "Jesus Saves" a couple of years ago that is also a popular worship song. I was at a memorial service recently when these lyrics really spoke. Although, they didn't use the LeFevre Quartet version, the lyrics are still the same.

The memorial service was for a dear family friend who spent most of her life serving Jesus overseas. She knew the sacrifice she was making, but felt called and went anyway. The service was one of the most worshipful I have ever attended. The church's choir sang this song, and as they hit the heart of the song, the family began to stand with arms raised high in worship. It was a powerful moment.

Because of the fact that Jesus saves, they know that they will one day be reunited with her. Because Jesus saves, they felt led to spend their lives telling others that message. Because Jesus saves, there is hope.

No matter the style, the lyrics of this song ring true. We can all worship and rejoice in the fact that Jesus saves.

Changes for LeFevre Quartet and Gold City

The new year is bringing about a couple of changes for two popular quartets.

Randy Byrd is joining the LeFevre Quartet as its bass singer. Randy was most recently with the Anchorman where he followed Paul Harkey and is interestingly enough doing that again with this position. He moved from Tennessee to North Carolina for his position with the Anchormen, but with all his family in Tennessee felt the need to move back after prayer when this position with the LeFevre Quartet came open. It was announced last week that Thomas Nalley is joining the group as tenor to replace Harold Reed. Look forward to seeing this new lineup!

Also, Dan Keeton is leaving Gold City. Dan issued this open letter last night:

"Many of you know my testimony of child abuse, the divorce of my parents, and my daddy’s alcoholism. I have recently been given an opportunity to start a non-profit organization using music and arts to inspire child victims of abuse. I am so excited but also heavy-hearted. Opening this door means I will have to leave Gold City. I can honestly say I love the Rileys so much. Tim and Danny are like family to me. Chuck, Bryan, and Jerry are so easy going and fun to be around that I will dearly miss being on the bus with such fine Christian gentlemen. I will always be grateful for my time here, and ask everyone to pray that Gold City finds the best replacement possible and that the transition is a smooth one."

Best wishes for Dan in the future, he will be missed! But you definitely have to admire his reasoning and the work that he will be doing.

Daniel Riley provided this quote about Dan on Facebook last night:

"We support Dan 100 percent in this new chapter of his life. We believe God has given him this opportunity to go into this new ministry. Dan has personally dealt with child abuse, and we believe his passion is for helping others in this area. He has our blessing and prayers as he leaves to encourage and enrich the lives of others in this special calling. Dan has agreed to stay on with Gold City and continue his role as our tenor until a replacement can be found."
